Why has the Tom and Terri Murphy Foundation been established?

A steadily increasing amount of Catholic high schools nationally have established inclusive educational programs and welcomed students with mild to moderate intellectual challenges into Catholic college preparatory communities. We strongly believe that this educational progress should not end for these students when they graduate from high school. Accordingly, it is our vision that one day, sooner than later, one Catholic college in each region of the country will be fed by several inclusive high school programs. Given the widespread presence of these programs in hundreds of our Catholic elementary schools, it is our realistic Mission that students with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities can be served from kindergarten thru college graduation.

These students contribute to their college communities by heightening awareness of individuals with differing abilities, fostering tolerance and understanding, and providing an example of achieving more than they might have dreamed or expected.
